MRR is an acronym for the Maximum Residency Rule of the University of the Philippines (UP). This rule stipulates that all UP students are only allowed to stay and study in UP 1.5 times longer than the number of years for their respective courses to finish. The MRR can be obtained by multiplying the number of years of a certain course to 1.5. For instance, the MRR for all four-year courses is six years, since 4 multiplied to 1.5 is 6. The MRR for five-year courses would be 7.5 years (or seven years and one semester), since 5 multipled to 1.5 is 7.5.
