Saints are individuals who are officially recognized by a certain denomination, being of importance in the propagation of faith and who has done enormous good and charity that shaped lives for the better. They are persons who are canonized and are entitled to public veneration and are known to intercede people to God.

Martyrs are people with great integrity and loyalty who fight for a certain cause for the good of humankind. In religious context, these are people who make sacrifices to hold on his/her belief, much more chooses to suffer death than renounce his faith.

The well-known Filipino saint, San Lorenzo Ruiz and the many martyrs who fight for religious and social advocacies are among those who are venerated and honored in the Philippines.
